Controversy

In the year 2008, during the shooting of the film Mani Hai Toh Honey Hai, there was an argument with Santosh Rai after which Santosh Rai filed a complaint against Govinda accusing him of harassment. Later Santosh Rai took the matter to the Supreme Court. Earlier this case was going on in Mumbai's Borivali Court. Hearing both sides, the court ordered Govinda to apologize to Santosh Rai and settle the case immediately.

Actor Govinda was born on 21 December 1963 into a Punjabi family. Govinda's father's name is Arun Kumar Ahuja, a former Bollywood actor. Govinda's mother's name is Nirmala Devi who is a popular actor as well as a singer. The real name of actor Govinda is Govinda Ahuja who is known by the nicknames Chi-Chi, Hero no.1 and Chi-Chi Bhaiya etc. Govinda's mother Nirmala Gaharwar was from Rajput family and father Arun Kumar Ahuja was from Gujranwala area of Mumbai.  Actor Govinda debuted in the Bollywood film industry in 1986 with the film Ilzaam which became a commercially successful film. Govinda was invited to play the role of Abhimanyu in the mythological serial Mahabharata, aired in 1988, but he refused to play in his first film. Govinda first shot the film Love 86 in 1985, which was released in 1986 after the film Ilzaam. Govinda first played the lead role in the film Tan-Badan which was directed by his uncle Anand. Govinda's father Arun acted as a hero in more than 30 films. In 1992, Govinda starred in the Hindi version of the film The Godfather alongside actress Divya Bharti. Actor Govinda has also sung a few songs in the film Dulaara and Shola Shabnam. Govinda played a villain for the first time in the 2000 film Shikari and the film was a commercial success.
