Atal Bihari Vajpayee was an Indian politician who had been the former Prime Minister of India. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a political as well as poet and statesman. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born on 25 December 1924 and died on 16 August 2018. Atal Bihari Vajpayee contested on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister of India thrice. For the first time, Atal Bihari Vajpayee became Prime Minister for only 16 days. He became the Prime Minister of India for the second time in 1998 for only 13 months. In 1999, Atal Bihari Vajpayee became the Prime Minister of India for a full term. Atal Bihari Vajpayee made a distinct identity in politics while being a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Atal Bihari Vajpayee also became active in politics at a young age. At the age of 16, Atal Bihari Vajpayee joined the RSS and acted like an active member. Atal Bihari Vajpayee had turned to politics only after completing his studies. Atal Bihari Vajpayee completed his schooling in 1934. Vajpayee completed his B.A. in Hindi, English and Culture. Later Atal Bihari Vajpayee received a master's degree in political science from DAV College Kanpur. After completing his master's degree in 1939, Atal Bihari Vajpayee joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Later in 1944, Atal Bihari Vajpayee was elected General Secretary of Arya Samaj Andolan and Arya Kumar Sabha. Similarly, gradually Atal Bihari Vajpayee started his career in politics. In 1996, Atal Bihari Vajpayee became the Prime Minister of India for the first time. Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been a member of the Indian Parliament for 5 decades (50 years) in his political career. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was elected 10 times as a Lok Sabha member and twice as a Rajya Sabha member. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was also a foreign minister of India during Morarji Desai's prime ministership. Atal Bihari Vajpayee conducted a nuclear test in Pokhran in 1998, during his prime ministership. In 2014, India's current Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared Atal Bihari Vajpayee's birthday as "Good Governance Day". Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked his birthday on December 25 as Atal Bihari Vajpayee's 90th birth anniversary as Good Governance. Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been honored with India's highest civilian honor (Bharat Ratna) and Padam Bhushan. Atal Bihari Vajpayee passed away on 16 August 2018 at the age of 93.

Early life of Atal Bihari Vajpayee: -


Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born on 25 December 1924 in the state of Madhya Pradesh. Vajpayee was born in a Brahmin family in Gwalior. Atal Bihari Vajpayee's father was a school teacher. Atal Bihari Vajpayee's grandfather Shyamlal Vajpayee migrated from his native village Bateshwar and settled in Morena near Gwalior. His grandfather first lived in Bateshwar village in Agra district of Uttar Pradesh state. Atal Bihari Vajpayee received his schooling in his hometown Gwalior. Atal Bihari Vajpayee completed his graduation from Gwalior Victoria College (Maharani Laxmibai Government College of Excellence). Atal Bihari Vajpayee did his studies in Hindi, English and Sanskrit. After this Atal Bihari Vajpayee took admission in DAV College, Kanpur and obtained his master's degree from here. Atal Bihari Vajpayee's father Krishna Bihari Vajpayee was a teacher, so he increased his interest in reading and writing activities from the beginning of his son. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was interested in listening and reciting poems since childhood. Therefore, Vajpayee always participated in drama and poetry competition in his schools and colleges. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was also very interested in writing. Later Atal Bihari Vajpayee became a writer and poet. Atal Bihari Vajpayee has written many poems and articles in his life. Atal Bihari Vajpayee slowly turned to politics after his graduation. Atal Bihari Vajpayee initially participated in Arya Kumar Sabha and "The Youth Wing of the Arya Samaj" and also became General Secretary. Atal Bihari Vajpayee went on to grow in politics. Impressed by Baba Saheb Apte, Atal Bihari Vajpayee joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Atal Bihari Vajpayee worked for news papers like Deendayal Upadhyay, Rashtradharma, Panchajanya, Daily Swadesh and Veer Arjun.



Education of Atal Bihari Vajpayee: -


Atal Bihari Vajpayee did his schooling in Gwalior. He received his early schooling from Saraswati Shishu Mandir School in Gwalior. Atal Bihari Vajpayee's father was a teacher himself. Therefore, his father Krishna Bihari Vajpayee helped him in getting Vajpayee's education. In 1934, Krishna Bihari Vajpayee became the headmaster of Anglo Vernacular Middle (AVM) School. Atal Bihari Vajpayee took admission in this school after his father became the Principal of AVM School. Vajpayee completed the rest of schooling from AVM School itself. After completing his schooling, Vajpayee took admission in Gwalior Victoria College to pursue graduation. It has now been named Maharani Laxmi Bai Government College of Excellence. From here, Atal Bihari Vajpayee received his BA degree in Hindi, English and Sanskrit subjects. Atal Bihari Vajpayee did his MA in Political Science from DAV College.

Political career of Atal Bihari Vajpayee : -


Atal Bihari Vajpayee started his political career in the year 1942. After his graduation, Atal Bihari Vajpayee made his debut in politics. In 1942, Atal Bihari Vajpayee joined the RSS at the age of 16 and continued to work as an active member. In 1942 many people were arrested for opposing the British Colonial Authority. Though the RSS did not oppose the British Colonial Authority, yet Atal Bihari Vajpayee and his elder brother Prem were arrested during the Quit India movement. Police held Atal Bihari Vajpayee and his elder brother for 24 days. Later Atal Bihari Vajpayee said in writing that he was not involved in this campaign. Atal Bihari Vajpayee said that we were not involved in the militant event to be held at Bateshwar on 27 August 1942, we were only a part of the crowd. After this Atal Bihari Vajpayee was released. In 1951, Atal Bihari Vajpayee worked for the Bharatiya Jana Sangh in association with Deendayal Upadhyay. Atal Bihari Vajpayee became the national secretary of the Hindu right-wing political party. Atal Bihari Vajpayee became a follower and assistant of party leader Shyam Prasad Mukherjee. Atal Bihari Vajpayee contested from Mathura and Balrampur in the 1957 Indian General Election. Atal Bihari Vajpayee lost from Mahendra Pratap from Mathura but won from Balrampura. Azad was pleased to see the speech of the first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Jawaharlal Nehru said about Atal Bihari Vajpayee that he will one day become the Prime Minister of India. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a wonderful person of the Jana Sangh due to his oratorical ability. After the death of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, Atal Bihari Vajpayee became the leader of the Jana Sangh. Thus Atal Bihari Vajpayee's political career continued to progress. Atal Bihari Vajpayee created a distinct identity among the people due to his speech-speaking ability.
